Certainly Tommy’s best known song and a tune with an interesting background. The melody was composed in 1911 by Charles Dawes who would later become Vice President of the US under Calvin Coolidge. Charles was an accomplished pianist and he titled the song “Melody in A Major”. The year Dawes died, 1951, Carl Sigman took this melody and composed lyrics for it and the result was “It’s All In The Game”. Tommy Edwards’ version of it was the #1 song in the nation in August of 1958, becoming one of the first songs actually recorded in true stereo to reach that position on the charts.
